摘要:Abstract: Sulfur (S) is required for the biosynthesis of cysteine, methionine and numerous other metabolites, and thus is essential for cellular metabolism and growth and development. Plants have evolved a sophisticated mechanism to sense the extracellular S status so that sulfate transport and metabolism can be coordinated. Genetic, biochemical, and molecular studies in Arabidopsis over the past ten years have started to shed some light on the regulatory mechanism of the S response, including transcriptional regulation and involvement of hormones. We present evidence that shows a new role for the Arabidopsis high affinity sulfate transporter SULTR1;2 in S sensing. Although our current view of S sensing and signaling remains fragmented, our long term goal is to construct an S response network.
