摘要：Fishing is a major contributor to global food security but also causes the most widespread impacts in the marine environment. It is well recognized that fisheries and marine ecosystems are in crisis. Some outstanding issues include increasing demand on seafood, overfishing, overcapacity, biodiversity loss, climate change, bycatch and discards, marine protected areas, fishing induced evolution, conflict among user groups, pollution, political struggle, etc. Is it possible to reconcile food production and ecosystem conservation? What is the future of our oceans? After a review of the current global problems, a new concept of balanced fishing will be discussed. It is hoped that people from all walks of life could help relieve marine crisis looming in front of us.
