Abstract
My research group developed a novel high-throughput tool to simultaneously quantify multiple waterborne pathogens and antibiotic resistance genes. By using this tool as well as a high-throughput sequencing approach, we have clarified the ecology of pathogens (e.g., Campylobacter, Arcobacter) in various freshwater environments such as stormwater reuse systems and a lake populated with migratory geese. These results can be used to establish strategies to protect public health and mitigate pathogen pollution in aquatic environments.
